Diamond is the hardest material known to man. According to the Rosiwal Scale, a diamond has a hardness of 140 times that of a sapphire or ruby. For this reason, the diamond blade has longer cutting edge life as compared to ruby or sapphire blades. Cutting with a diamond blade requires much less pressure than blades made of other materials. Rumex diamond knife blades are made from gem quality diamonds using our patented Thermo-Cut ® process. Unlike the old-fashioned method, which uses diamond wheels for mechanical diamond abrasion, we apply an oxygen-free medium (Hydrogen) and a very high temperature (up to 1500° C) to elaborate the cutting edges of the blade.
